Challenge:

To move the mobile coffee business forward and meet consumer demands for quick high quality coffee. 

To sell more coffee in the same amount of time without compromising quality over quantity.

Further -they wanted to make the franchisers more attractive.

Solution:

Hornet PDA to PDA Ordering System running the Microsoft Windows Mobile 2003 platform. Two PDAs are used - one to take orders, which instantaneously sends it to the second PDA in the coffee van.

With the arrival of Vodaphone's 3G Network, data can be sent and received at far greater speeds than on current GPRS networks.

PDAs were chosen because the touch screen better replicated normal order forms and they can also retain and report data. Considering most people order the smae coffee every single day - the ability to save orders is precious aas it can further reduce downtime.

Result:

Hornet PDA to PDA Ordering System significantly reduces down time and enables Xpresso to sell on average an additional four (4) coffees every 15 mins. At $3 a coffee, this equates to an additional $70,000 in sales over a one year period.
What's more - Xpresso franchisee's are rapidly adopting this new technology.
